What a Lie can do

No doubts, there is beauty in truth, even if it’s sometimes painful. Those who lie twist life so that it looks tasty to the lazy, brilliant to the ignorant, and powerful to the weak. But lies only strengthen our defects. They don’t teach, help, fix or cure anything, neither do they develop one’s character, mind, heart, or soul.

What A Lie Can Do

What Happens When You Lie to a Person who Believes in You?

Lies are destructive forces that break down the very foundation of trust in any relationship. Once trust is gone, faith is gone. Losing someone’s trust can cause the greatest damage ever. Trust is everything in any relationship, partnership, or friendship. Once trust is gone, everything eventually falls apart. It breaks that one person who believes in you when you lie. Trust is very basic and is a very important thing.

Definitely, the truth can destroy too, but whatever truth breaks, time can rebuild

. When one switches to living an authentic life and taking responsibility for his wrongdoings, only then can a foundation be rebuilt. Only then can he stop living those lies, and only then can he stop hurting those he loves and those who love him.

“The glue that holds all relationships together – including the relationship between the leader and the led–is trust, and trust is based on integrity.”

It’s not easy to tell the truth and own up to your part in something wrongly done, but it IS the right thing for everyone. Lies come in many forms; cheating, stealing, scamming, and so on, and they all hurt someone, even if you don’t meet them face to face.

Remember that if you’ve been lazy and then you start working hard, laziness would be forgotten. If you are overweight and you work hard and lose weight, the memory of you being overweight is forgotten, but if you lie only once, you are branded as a liar and that tag will be with you for a very long time. So think before you act or open your mouth to lie.

Do people really lie or simply justify or rationalize their behaviour? Or do they communicate a position they wish or believe to be true?

The thing about lies is that they are often sought out for the temporary solution they offer. However, more times than most, lies end up creating a web which will ultimately be unraveled at the most inconvenient of times which will then lead to disappointment and mistrust. The best thing to do is to be truthful at all times, but be weary of the audience you address with honesty.

Don’t lie to someone who trusts you because you would only be fooling yourself. One lie will lead to another and before long, it will become difficult to keep track of the trail and, eventually, your story will fall apart. Be honest now and the consequences will pass away as time goes on. Lie now and the consequences will wait till when your lies are discovered in the future.

Summarily, do not lie only for ethical reasons, but because you bring yourself out of alignment with who you are if you do. And maintaining that gap between lies and reality will take a lot of your energy and ultimately corrupt you. And that goes for individuals as well as for corporations, who should always strive to report the factual truth.

“A real man will be honest no matter how painful the truth is. A coward hides behind lies and deceits.”

Lies shouldn’t be part of us, irrespective of the circumstances at hand. Whether in a personal or business setup, the information relayed may form the basis through which a vital decision will be made and in the short or long run, the consequences may be horrific. The truth always has a way to manifest itself.

Just take responsibility (and consequences) for your decisions and actions. That’s sometimes scary, but you won’t have to remember what lie you told and you might get the gifts of mercy and grace.
