Catherine Bell’s Upbringing

Her father worked as a contract-architect in an oil company in Iran; while her mother traveled to London to study nursing.

Raised by her mother and maternal grandparents after her parents divorced when she was two years old, the divorce led to her family’s migration to California. This is a very big factor in Catherine Bell’s bio today.

Being of British-Persian descent, and living in America, Catherine was exposed to different cultures. She had a predominant Persian influence and her grandparents were Muslim. However, Catherine was also exposed to Catholicism and attended an all-girls Catholic high school in Los Angeles.

Upon return to California, Catherine switched to an acting career. She enrolled at the Beverly Hills Playhouse, while she worked alongside as a massage therapist at the peninsula hotel for 8 years.

At 21, Catherine received a thyroid cancer diagnosis with the help of her uncle who she described as her biggest influence. She later underwent a surgery to remove the gland; an experience she tagged as life-changing.

In 1997, Catherine received a three-line role in one episode of the JAG television series. However, she did not debut because of NBC’s cancellation. Fortunately, when CBS picked up and restructured the show, she auditioned for a major role and won. One episode featured her speaking Persian and that became a prominent note for the Iranian-American actress until the series ended in 2005.

Furthermore, she went on to star as Denise Sheerwood, the wife of a US Army Lieutenant, in Lifetime’s tv drama series, Army Wives, from 2007 to 2013, after which she landed another lead role with Hallmark’s The Good Witch television series, where she played Cassandra Nightingale, famously known as “Cassie”, in 2008.

Marriage, Family and Divorce

Among her first roles was playing as Isabella Rossellini in the 1992 film, Death becomes Her. There, she met her now ex-husband, Adam Beason on the set.

The duo got married two years after they met on set and had two children, Gemma and Ronan Beason together. Catherine and her husband enjoyed a strong relationship and lived in a nearly 5,700-square-foot (530 m2) faux-Tuscan-style mini-mansion home in Calabasas, California.

However, in her 2008 interview with Pink Magazine, Catherine described her husband, Adam Beason, as a “sweetheart” and her friend. The proud actress lauded their grit to stay together for 16 years. A length of time she described as “dog years” in Hollywood. Nothing set the tone for the divorce both heralded in the year 2011, after they had their second child, Ronan.

“Although the split was amicable, the couple agreed to raise their children together,” says People.
